Sorry for the delay in this week’s update, will try to be more punctual. I ended up travelling to BLR this week, staying over at the IISc campus and exploring the joys of campus life. Although I largely regret not making the best use of opportunities while at IIT Delhi, I’ve managed to check a few things off during my stay here. Exploring the best food in Bangalore definitely tops the list.
Slack Huddle is one of the best features to have dropped this past week. Slack is quite famous for it’s well thought out features and Huddle too impresses - with users reporting of how this new feature significantly reduces their zoom fatigue for every unnecessary meetings. In this piece, Ken Norton delves into this new suite of products through an interview with their VP of Product.
A couple of weeks ago I recommended this beautiful YT channel Will Schoder specifically the video on What is Happiness? This week I chanced upon a couple of other videos on Attention economy and Post-Modernism and they turned out to be the stand out parts of my week.

It’s interesting how in spite of the mammoth YoY growths and ambitious projections, it’s only going to be 6% of the world SaaS global markets. They also discuss about playbooks, how Indian SaaS can do better market shares and truly sell to the world. This excellent piece by AJVC and Stellaris also reaffirm this. Long Indian SaaS!

On the topic of Denmark, here’s a wonderful concept video on blue zones of Happiness. The World Economic Forum conducted extensive research on the major factors affecting happiness of a particular culture and geography, narrowing down to the nations of SGP, DEN, PUE.
In this week’s crypto resource to start off with, this Fall 18 MIT OCW course on crypto and money is an excellent beginner’s resource. Going through this gave me the additional research perspective to the proof of work and why it was such a tough nut to crack.
Brain Pickings is one of my favorite newsletters ever, and this elaborate piece on Zero is another reminder why.
It’s absolutely amazing the rapid pace at which crypto, AI and MR fields are progressing. Every week, it’s impossible to not hear about a path breaking innovation, either academic or engineering related in these domains. Futuristic scenarios which felt far into the future have exponentially caught up with reality and scenarios like AR clothing try on are much closer than one can imagine.
Tanay talks about Amazon in depth, what other companies can learn from the behemoth. He does this through the books written on Amazon - Working backwards and the Shareholder letters.
In SaaS, the niche of developer software, ie businesses that build tools and platforms for developers are particularly lucrative. Anagh talks about 7 emerging trends in this space vis a vis API, OSS and Cloud implications.
On that note, India’s minting unicorns every other day now. There’s probably no better place in the world right now to startup, bring your idea to reality and build wealth. We got our second individual gold medal in our Olympic history finally, this piece wonderfully summarizing the journeys of the athletes. Shame the 5th day had to be washed out but the 1st test between India and England was a wonderful testament to the fact that Test cricket is the ultimate format to prove your mettle as a cricketer. Also, what sheer genius was that Dave S2 finale. Mind is totally blown!
